Twitter can be used in various ways. I have come across so many people, believe me when I say this but there are tons of people who have no idea about effective twitter marketing. Some people treat it as a joke while some play it as a game. There is much more to Twitter. You can use twitter to build up a network and grow your blog. Although twitter was created quite some time ago, I started using it effectively from the beginning of 2009. I have mentioned several methods I personally use to make twitter an essential marketing tool. I hope it will come in handy for all the bloggers.
How Twitter can be Useful to Bloggers and Drive Traffic to your Blog
Ask Questions
Asking questions is a great way to connect with people; this shows that you are active on twitter. When you ask a question, other people tend to answer it and this way you can connect with them. Do not be afraid to ask questions because every time you do, you just might learn something new and find other bloggers to connect with.
Network & Communicate with Like-Minded People
Twitter is a microblogging platform and a powerful networking tool. Usually people follow other users when they care about that person or are interested in their stuff. This makes it easier to connect with like- minded people and communicate with them; this could lead to more traffic to your blog and on top, build a strong relationship.
Make Business Contacts
As mentioned earlier, twitter is a powerful networking tool where you can find tons of like-minded people as well as business contacts. Twitter is a great platform for doing business these days. I have seen people who have done business together by simply sending tweets to each other but never met personally. You can find lots of freelancers who can do your stuff and can come in handy. Whether you are seeking to hire someone for assistance, looking for a new job, or just looking to share ideas, Twitter can be very useful.
Get Useful Ideas for Blog Posts
Writing a blog post is not easy; especially if you are a new blogger. Twitter can help you a lot in terms of getting ideas for your blog posts. Check out the recent tweets and see what people are talking about. Find out whats hot in the market and write about it. When you get involved in a conversation, you can easily find out whats going on with people and what are they looking for. Do a research about that topic and write about it; it will not only help them out but also make you an expert and drive traffic to your blog.
Find and Share Resources
You can now share your resources with other tweeters. Whether you want to give something for free, offer your services, need a guest blog post or interested in interviewing someone, you can easily send a tweet about it and chances are there that you will get good response. People love free stuffs and tweeting about it can help you connect with the mass.
Become an Expert
Twitter can help you learn a lot and make you an expert. You can communicate with other people about your niche and learn a lot from each other. By communicating through tweets, you can ask questions, participate in a debate or a conversation, answer queries and learn a lot. If you ask a question to the community, chances are there that tons of people will try to answer and this will tell you whom to make contact with and who is interested in your stuff. Staying connected with the twitter community and participating in it can make you an expert for other people which means people will start to like you, follow you and your work (blog).
Promotional Assistance
Twitter is a great place to request your followers for diggs, stumbles and retweets. You can also request other users to blog about your posts with a link back. A lot of people love to gain backlinks for their site especially from useful posts; they also return the favor by giving you a backlink from their site. This can be really good for your blog and drive good traffic.
Drive Traffic
Twitter is all about spreading word across. It has a viral marketing effect; if you tweets are interesting and worth it, it can easily and quickly spread across the Twitter community. If you do something new to your blog or even launch a new feature on it, you can tweet about it to your followers and most likely they will retweet it and spread the word throughout the twitter community.
I hope everyone can make good use of this list. Suggestions and comments are welcome.
