Do You Squidoo?
In one of my previous posts, I have talked about squidoo and how it works. I hope most of you found it useful and have already started dominating this giant social network.
Before you start reading about gaining traffic to your lens, you need to know the basic:
Once you have created a lens, you don’t want to sit there and expect the lens to blossom. You need to put your work into it to gain exposure. Honestly, squidoo is loved by google and it doesn’t take much to get a good lens ranked in Google. There are several ways to do this but today, I will mention the top 10 methods to get traffic to your lens and increase its ranking within squidoo community and also Google. I have used this method since the beginning and it still works like a charm.
1. Once you have created your first lens, make sure you visit the squidoo discussion forums, Squidu and let the other lensmasters know about it. You may post links to your lenses in these forums: Introduce yourself to the community and then request for a feedback on your new lens. There are tons of experts who will respond and provide useful feedback which will not only help you create a better lens but also become a professional squidoo lensmaster.
2. Create lensographies and your bio creatively and make sure you include all possible details about you. People visiting your lens want to know the author. If you, the author is interesting, they may become your fan and favorite your lenses. Squidoo allows us to use HTML to design our bio so it’s not that difficult to impress a visitorJ.
3. Social network sites like Facebook, Twitter, Tagfoot can give a great boost to your lenses. Tweet about your latest lens and also create a fan page where you can post and discus about your latest lenses. You can also submit your lens to various popular social bookmarking sites. Just remember that when you promote your lenses on StumbleUpon or Digg, be a little careful and do not overdo it as too much endorsement on these sites is considered SPAM and thus, may lead your account to get banned. Use these two very carefully and sparingly. You may want others to submit the lens for you in such directories. If they like your stuff, they will definitely share and spread the word.
4. Submit your lenses to Squidoo related directories such as Lensroll, Squidirectory, The Isle of Squid, and Squoogle. There are lots of link directories I can mention but the drawback is that most search engines ignore these directories, except Squoogle and Lensroll which are worth mentioning. All the five mentioned are popular and used by the mass lensmasters. They are similar to Digg and can give you some link juice.
5. One awesome way of getting traffic is to check out others’ lenses and comment on them. Now, this is one of the best methods because you are not only getting exposure for your lens but also engaging in a conversation with the lensmaster. This builds up your rep and a relationship with other lensmasters. So, whenever you create a lens, they might drop by and leave some love. Join the SquidU forum, try to be active on the board and participate whenever possible. This increases your chance to get noticed. If you have a question or a tip, create a thread and go for it.
6. Include the link of your lens in your email, blogs, comments, articles or on any profile that you may be using for participating in online communities. This is the easiest method and can be done by any.
7. LOTD! What the heck is that? LOTD stands for “Lens Of The Day”. It is not easy to achieve this badge. There is a competition and whoever’s lens is the best is blessed with this title. Kimberly takes care of this section, she doesn’t take bribes so you need to work harder. The best way to get picked, really, is just to be kind, highly creative, try new things, and make lenses that are true to you. Why do you want to take part in Lens of the Day competition and nominate your lens? Well it can bring massive amount of traffic to your lens. You might get tons of instant followers. 8. Squidcast is another feature that you will come across as soon as you have created your first lens. Use Squidcasts to notify your fans and followers when you update your lenses. If you update your lenses regularly, the new content is bound to attract reader’s attention. When you have a fan following you can dispatch squidcasts to announce your new or updated lenses. Lenses have a rating system, which means that any lensmasters who drop by have a chance of rating your lens from 0 to 5 stars. The latest, updated lens will attract more users and has greater chance of getting a 5 star.
9. SQUIDUtils – Squidoo Tools and Utilities, although it is for the Expert Lensmasters, if you play with it for a few days, you will find this very useful. This is the place where you will find complementry utilities and tools for your lenses on Squidoo. This site also gives us several features that you won’t find in the squidoo dashboard. If you are an Amazon Associate, then there are some amazing tools that will spice up your lenses and make you more money. Just go, check it out and let me know how it worked for you.
10. Last but not the least, if you are a blogger and want to make extra money from squidoo, the best way is to head to squidoo and create an amazing lens; monetize the lens with money making modules and write a great article that others can it useful. You can create a lens on your niche or a how-to lens which is popular. Link the lens to your blog and create a blog post which is relevant and related to the topic of the lens. Include the link of the lens to your blog post. If you have a good following, you are not only getting traffic to your blog but also the lens. The best part is, you are also getting a valuable backlink from a high PR-7.
Squidoo is pretty fun and I have been using it for almost 2 years. I still wish I discovered it earlier. I will not be posting squidoo related stuffs here that often because I have already dedicated a blog to squidoo and you can check it out at WhySquidoo. Once you have mastered squidoo, you may want to join me and start providing tips to others. J
If you have any question regarding the topic then feel free to pass them through comments. I will check and respond to every single of them. Now go and create your first squidoo lens. Let me know how it is going. Remember, you just have to be passionate about your niche; the rest will just flow naturally. Good luck

Thanks for the tip , for those who have read this is what your RSS feed will be when you have published your LENS.
Creating a lens and adding new modules is one of my favourite sports on the web. But I’ m a bit considerate about their ‘Squidon’ts’-some of the common anchor texts (say for instance ’surgery’ related keywords) they’re stamping under this category, this may hinder our exposure level substantially.
Its good to know that you also squidoo. How long have you been creating lenses? I create lens whenever i get time, its more like a hobby and does make you money. Its not that difficult to follow their TOS. Avoid topics on gambling, weightloss products and adult content. simply stay away from the squidonts and you are all good.
Using Squidoo for 2 year and you need to strong your network and publish the good hubs on the specific category hub
This is a great artcle regarding lenses. I done a search to see if you could add affiliate links to squidoo and this article answered my question and more. I have my own products which I promote but wanted to get into affiliate marketing a little and I thought Squidoo would be ideal.
I am glad that you found the article useful. If you have any request then you can find me on twitter. Cheers
