Very instructive. I was aware of the rules because I read them. But you explained them very well. You just forgot one thing though, mass unfollow is also forbidden.

Thank you for including the tip. You are right indeed; mass unfollowing can also get you banned on twitter. If you limit it to 200 a day, it should be just fine.

The easiest way to get suspended is start an account and keep following more than 1k person a day. The next day the account will be suspended straight away. Source: Experience. :D

i would like to clarify that twitter wont allow you to follow 1000 a day. It did in the early days when it started. But now, i would advice that you dont follow more than 100-200 people a day. Besides, there is no point following random people who wont add value to your system. Good luck and stay on the safe side

Avoid frequent following and un-following to boost views to your Twitter profile. Do not use automated systems or software to add bulk friends or followers because this is a major red flag.

I think because of having automatic spam messages. Tip of advice don't go on sites saying that your going to have more followers if you sign up there. I think, if people send message or emails to twitter saying that you should get your twitter unsupended then they might unsuspend your twitter account. That's what I'm trying to do.

When I click on that person's user name to see his/her account, it's suspended! And I can't find them among people who follow me!

I haven't jumped on to twitter but I did get booted off of Yahoo answers. If I do join twitter I'll heed your advice.

Thank you for this very informative article! I started w/ Twitter last Fall & learn new things all the time. I really wondered when I saw accounts with only 1, or maybe 3 or 4, posts yet had 1,000 followers. Now I understand.

No warning, no hint about why. I’ve been using Twitter for well over a year. I have blogged extensively about Twitter

Unfortunately there are some more reasons that are beyond the TOS , which are beyond comprehension, i have 2-3 different twitter accounts which I run for separate companies, yesterday I made a new one (again for a new company), none have anything to do with each other.
And guess what in less then 15 hours when i have not even email verified the account with 0 followings and o tweets, this new account has been suspended.
Can anyone explain why? That wud take a shit load off my head in future dealing with twitter.

Under normal circumstances Twitter does not monitor or censor the information that is Tweeted from the millions of Tweets and millions of accounts. Your account is only monitored if it has been flagged or reported as “suspicious activity.

As for your case, you need to be more careful with what you do on this site. Please be sure to read all rules very carefully to avoid getting your account suspended like the last one-and they should be read as often as possible.

You can no longer follow over 1k people on twitter. Its not even close. I would suggest you follow only 400-700 a day to stay safe. I dont really think you need to follow random people just to increase your followers count. try targeting people in your niche. Cheers

There are a lot of people making a lot of money through Twitter and Twitter aren’t seeing a cent of it, but they’re still having to pay for the bandwidth each month! Something has to give.

There are lot's of things you need to keep in your mind , your twitter account contains informational not promotional, i mean use text and group discussion not send only company link and promotional activities…don't use adult content..

Very informative, after building up my own twitter account I have recently been working on several accounts for other companies, I have found that 2 out of 6 of these accounts were suspended, I have managed to get one re-instated and am hopefully to recover the other one, I was actually using “State-of-the Art” software so was shocked when it happened. I agree, don’t use automated, use manual and build it, they will come :)

What if I was to say I followed 1k every day for 2 weeks straight, and then got suspended. Does it increase the amount of time for my twitter account to be reinstalled? And if it was to be reinstalled, would all my followings and followers be back in placed?

you will get your followers and following back in shape after getting back your account but i wouldnt suggest that you aggressively follow random people just to increase your followers. Also bear in mind that not all will follow back so try gathering a targetted list and use tweet adder or some other tool to follow 200-300 per day or in 12 hours duration and you should be fine. Hope that helps
